September 4–30, 2026
FLU Gallery and Academy Club, Kneza Mihaila, Belgrade
The exhibition of 25 years of the “Dimitrije Bašičević Mangelos” Award will be open to visitors from September 4 to 30, 2026, in the Gallery of the Faculty of Fine Arts and the Academy club area in Knez Mihailova. The curators of the exhibition are Ivana Bašičević Antić and Miroslav Karić.
This exhibition brings together a view of the importance and contribution of this Award to the Serbian art scene, with a view of the practices of the award-winning artists, and offers twenty-five different answers to the same question: what does it mean today to make art that moves the boundaries of media, language and thought. At the exhibition, one work of each winner will be presented – as twenty-five points that, viewed together, draw a map of a scene in a constant self-examination.
The artists whose works will be exhibited are: Vladimir Nikolić, Milica Ružičić, Milena Putnik, Siniša Ilić, Katarina Zdjelar, Ivan Petrović, Ivana Smiljanić, Dušica Dražić, Marina Marković, Slobodan Stošić, Saša Tkačenko, Nataša Kokić, Marko Marković, Nina Simonović, Jelena Mijić, Nadežda Kirćanski, Katarina Petrović, Žarko Aleksić, Jelena Micić, Pavle Banović, Sanja Anđelković, Igor Šiler, Nemanja Milenković and Jovana Blagojević.
Through a quarter of a century of work, the Mangelos Award has become a point of reference for the contemporary art scene in Serbia. During the 25 years of the competition, more than 860 applications were received, 94 works of art were produced through the award program, while almost 2,000 actors of the art scene were involved in the Award mechanism in various ways — as candidates, finalists, winners, jury members, curators, critics and collaborators of institutions.
Every year, an international expert jury composed of curators, art historians and art critics of the middle and younger generation from the country and abroad evaluates the submitted artistic practices. Over the years, the members of the jury have included representatives of the world’s leading institutions of contemporary art, including the assistant director of MoMA from New York and the associate curator of the Guggenheim Museum.
